Some Stories
So it has been like 3 weeks since I have written a really good letter to my house, so I guess I will just kind of talk about the last 3 weeks in this letter. It has been a lot haha. I feel like Moses in the Bible in Numbers 11Ñ14 and almost got into verse 15 too haha. There are a ton of people, and just not many of them are really wanting to progress. So yeah, also I am still single momming this, but it is almost over. In one week we have transfers and then something will change and we will see if it makes things better or breaks everything to pieces. So the last couple weeks, we were working with a guy named Luis. He is 25 and he used to do a lot of drugs. He went to church twice and seemed reeceptive and then he stopped going to church and starting going to a different one. Turns out that he only went those two timese because his grandpa made him, and he really did not want to visit with us or read the Book of Mormon. He was happy in this other church I guess. So yeah that did not work out. Also the mission office gave us a survey to use during contacts. I guess the inspired guys in the office thought it would work. I did not really believe in it when they gave it to us to be honest, but since then I have tried it and it changed my mind. Two people just let us in their houses to do the survey and the rest of them are a lot more receptive to talking to us when we use it. So, it is a classic I was wrong and they were right type of story. Other stories, one of the days we had divisions with the Zone Leaders. They are cool dudes, but we had been playing darts a lot in our pension, and some people are not very good at darts, so there might have been holes in the wall of our apartment. Because of that, I bought some white paint to try and not have holes in the walls. It would have worked great, but after I finished painting we discovered that it was a slightly different color of white. So once I realized that, we just covered the wall in pictures from magazines of prophets. I am so grateful for modern day prophets. Then no one knew about the things, so it all went well. Case closed. Other story, pesos are monopoly money in value and in appearance. Other story, my comp had pink eye. That was when I truly learned that money rules the world. We went to the clinic after I made him call all the people and clinics to see where we needed to go. We got there and waited a little. Then a nice lady tended to us. My comp did not bring his passport or anything, so when she asked us for that I had to be an adult and work completely around needing any legal documents. Miracles exist. Then we finally got in the doctor office and it took literally 30 seconds. He poked the eye, looked at it in a big machine and wrote a paper for us to take to a pharmacy and buy eye drops. $300 down the drain. Oh well, it is monopoly money. We had interviews with President in our apartments as well. That was interesting. I was stressed out. It ended up being ok though, he just came to the apartment with the office missionaries, told us how broken everything we own is, and then told the office missionaries to write down buying tons of new things for here. They also gave us a trash can and a bucket. How generous. Then we had one on ones with presi. That was ok. He apparently thought I am doing a really good job with all the things, which is not what I think, but whatever. He also thought I was really excited about the mission. Haha 0 for 2 presi. It is all good though. Well the only good news is that one of our investigators just got everything done to be able to get married. The only bad thing is that the date he got from the government is in September. I definitely will not be here for that haha. Dang it. Oh well. The important thing is that he will be able to get baptized. Yeah. So that is how this has been going. The other people we teach have not arrived to the church yet, so that is a bummer. Other than that it is just work work work talk talk talk work work walk walk walk walk work work sleep work work eat eat eat. And that is mission.
